Streets Trainers Advertisement

For my advertisement, I decided to promote a trainer which would be a new and on trend shoe on the market. I decided to use the sub-division of ‘Arrow’, from the brand ‘Streets’. I used this sub-division as I felt that it incorporated with the image of the trainer, as it was heading in a new direction of a modernised and fashionable trainer.

I ensured that the background I used within my adverisement incorporated with the colour scheme used, so that there was a consistent theme running throughout the image. The use of the mint coloured background also helps to emphasise the rimline and laces on the trainer. I felt that this colour helped to signify a fresh and edgy look, as well as make it appear as on trend.

I decided to use various different fonts for different parts of the text on my advertisement, to help emphasise the headline and the name of the shoe more than the rest of the informational text. I ensured that I made the title much bolder than the rest of the text, to make it eyecatching, as well as highlight the name of the brand. I also ensured I included information about the shoe, such as where it can be purchased, as well as some text which could perhaps persuade onlookers to purchase the trainer. The font I used for the word 'Arrow' uses strong letters with straight lines, which I felt signified an arrow, which is why I thought it would be the correct font to use. I also decided to use the strapline 'go in the right direction', as I felt that it was incorporated within the same semantic field as the rest of the advert, and incorporated with the theme of the product. This strapline could again be trying to persaude people to purchase the trainer, as it suggests that the trainer is popular, as well as signifying that everybody wants to go the correct way, by buying the shoe.

The contrast of the black text against the bright background helps to make the text clear for the audience to read, which could be useful if they were quickly glancing over it or if it was on a billboard. This could also be helping the audience to remember the advert, as well as attracting the younger generation, as it signifies a young and trendy look.

Mise en Scene

Setting and Location:
The location of the advertisement helps to incorporate with the theme of the advert. The female is shown to be leaning across a balcony, whilst a male is on the other side, leaning into and gazing up at her in amazement. The use of the balcony could be suggesting that there is a barrier between the pair, and that they have to overcome obstacles to be together. The setting could also be signifying romance and love, especially as the male is holding onto a bouquet of flowers, which could be suggesting he is trying to impress the female, and that he is 'lovestruck', which connects with the perfume title.

Decor
The decor within this advertisement incorporates with the theme of the perfume bottle. The colours within the advert are bright and eyecatching, and the use of the colour pink helps to connect with the colours used within the perfume bottle. The colour pink also signifies love and romance, which could be emphasising that the perfume can attract the opposite sex, because of the scent. The colour pink could also be showing that the fragrance is for women, although we cannot tell from the advert about the age group it is aimed at. The image has also been shot in daylight, which could be showing that the perfume has a light and fruity scent. The use of the white building also emphasises the pink typography, as well as the colour of the females dress. This could also be trying to be eyecatching to the audience, as well as be attempting to make the audience remember the name of the fragrance so they can continue on to purchase it.

Body Language
The female used within the advertisement is shown to be looking directly into the camera, which suggests that she wants you to focus on the advertisment and acknowledge the perfume. The female may also be looking directly into the camera in order to avoid eye contact with the male, who is seen to be looking up to her. This could be suggesting that he sees her as a godlike figure, with large authority and importance. The female may also be looking into the camera as she has been caught out interacting with the male, as it could not be allowed.

Props and Objects
Although there are not many props and objects used within the advert, the bouquet of flowers held by the male help to signify that he is 'lovestruck' by the female, and is attempting to impress her, although she does not appear interested.

Costume and Make Up
The female is shown to be wearing a long and elegant ball gown, which could be suggesting that she is an important person, or perhaps a figure of authority who comes from a wealthy family. Her hair and makeup could be trying to be opposed as natural, perhaps to make her appear young looking and innocent. She is also portrayed with a sense of formality, in comparison to the male, who is shown as wearing casual and dark  clothing. The use of her bright clothing in contrast to his dark clothing could be trying to show a good angel/ bad angel relationship, and that him trying to interact with her is not allowed, which could be the reason why he has attempted to climb up the balcony.

Camera Movement

Throughout the crane swinging scene in The Amazing Spiderman, there is a lot of different camera movement. One example of camera movement is shown when the helicopter is flying overhead, and the camera follows. This shows the size of the obstacle in which Spiderman has to overcome. Another example of camera movement throughout the scene is when Spiderman is running off the building. This shows the determination which Spiderman is feeling, as well as he has not given up hope, despite the fact that he is injured. Slow motion is also used to help emphasise this determination of Spiderman. When the camera is following Spiderman swinging through the city, the audience are made to feel as though they are travelling alongside him, which helps them to interact with the character. This camera angle also gives a feeling of excitement, as well as giving the audience the thrill of flying high within a city.

Camera Position

The use of this Eye Level camera position helps to portray that Superman is in mid flight, as well as the speed he is going at. The use of this shot also helps to exaggerate the speed in which he is flying at, which makes the poster appear more exciting.

The use of this low angle shows how Batman is a figure of authority, as well as a figure of dominance. This angle could also be portraying a feeling of fear and darkness towards the enemy of Batman, as it shows him as superior to the opponent, by looking down on them.

The use of this high angle shows the audience how high Spiderman is and how he is overcoming danger shown in the height which he is portrayed. This angle also helps the audience to feel as though Spiderman is swinging towards them, and helps them to interact with the film.
The use of this Point of View shot gives the audience a sense of heroism, because they feel as though they are in the Iron Man suit, making them feel like a superhero. This also gives the audience a sense of power,as they feel as though they possess the powers of Iron Man.

The use of the Over the Shoulder shot in the Batman helps the audience to identify that the characters are talking, and makes them feel involved within the conversation. The Joker is also seen to be pointing his finger within this shot, which could show that the Joker has authority over the conversation, and is trying to make Batman feel threatened.

Mise en Scene

Setting and Location:
Throughout the opening credits to 'Pretty Little Liars' setting is not particularly shown. The opening credits mainly focus on the four girls, using extreme close up and medium shots throughout.
Decor:
The background is dark and dull, which helps to place emphasis on the four girls within the opening credits. The lighting used is also low and dim, which could be suggesting mischievous events are too come. This could also be creating an eerie atmosphere, and make the audience wonder as to what is too come or what they are hiding. The use of the dark background and dim lighting could be helping to emphasise that they are preparing someone for their death, which is shown at the beginning of the credits.

                                                                  Body Language:

The body language shown within the opening credits portrays the four girls as uncomfortable. When the casket is closed, the girls appear anxious and nervous, as though they have got something to hide. The girls also do not directly look into the camera, which again highlights that they are not telling the whole truth about the situation and are uncomfortable. At one point within the opening credits, the character 'Aria' briefly looks directly into the camera, and places her finger to her lips to express secrecy. This is the only time that the characters interact with the audience.
Props and Objects:
Although there are no props shown to be specifically used by the four girls, props and other objects are still used within the opening credits. The makeup brush, nail varnish, curling tongs and shoes all help the audience to see that the girls, or possibly other people, are preparing somebody for their death. The audience know this as what is assumed as a female is shown being placed in a casket and the lid closing, which informs us that she may is dead.
